A little bit about us
Ashleworth C of E primary school has an active PTFA group. The committee is made up of many parents and a few friends! All are welcome to take as much of a part as they want to in the group – there is no pressure to attend every meeting nor to take on lots of additional work. We are very grateful for your support.
Currently the committee is made up of:
- Chair and Secretary – Michelle Chamberlayne
- Treasurer - Jane Hadlington
We would love to welcome some new parents and friends. Or maybe you already have children at the school and would like to become involved. If you would like to find out more, please just ask one of the parents listed above.
When do we meet?
We try to meet quarterly or more frequently if we have an event such as the Christmas party or a community event coming up. Meeting dates are published in the school newsletter and we also spread the word amongst parents nearer the time. We try to alternate meeting times between days and evenings as we are aware of work commitments for some.
What activities have we been involved with over the past year?
- Christmas Fayre – held at the School, the Fayre consisted of a number of commercial stalls, stalls manned by the WI and Scouts, a tea and coffee stand and a number of areas focused on the children – crafts, lucky dip, reindeer food, name the elf and of course, Santa’s Grotto. This year the Fayre will be held at, and run by, the Village Hall.
- Beetle Drive – this was a fun activity solely for the benefit of the children held after school with snacks and refreshments for everyone.
- Open Gardens event – held in July, numerous gardens in the village opened their gates for over 200 of the local community to look around. Selling teas and coffees and plants on the way, the event raised in excess of £700 which is being put towards the School’s new reflective garden/raised bedding and some excursions for the children.
- Ashleworth Show – every year, the PTFA organise and run the bottle tombola stall. This year we also offered temporary tattoos for the children.
- Autumn Ball – held at the newly refurbished Village Hall, 80 people enjoyed a three-course meal, raffle, auction of promises and dancing, raising over £2,500 for school funds.
- Other activities – the PTFA funds all the school leavers presents; provide funding for mini-bus to enable the children to attend swimming lessons; funded transport for the educational Tudor trip to Stratford Upon Avon; run door to door carol singing and the children’s Christmas party; funded the playground safety check; this year it organised the school photo; operate the lottery bonus ball, collect for Bags2School twice a year and help generate funds through art projects such as Christmas cards.
Going forward
We are going to meet with the School team each term so we can share ideas of how to best use the funds we have raised for the school and the children’s benefit.
Ideas for fundraisers for this academic year include a cheese and wine night and a fashion show. We hope to run the Open Garden event in the future and then of course there are the Summer/Autumn Balls!
A big thank you
We want to take this opportunity to thank all of the committee, the School staff and all the members of our local community who give their time and support us so generously. We couldn’t do what we do without you all. Thank you.
